Peter Aaron Chacanias is an associate at Davison, Eastman, Muñoz, Lederman & Paone, focusing on criminal law, corporate law and real estate matters. His experience includes acting as the Public Defender and Conflict Public Defender for numerous municipalities in Ocean County, where he represented individuals in defense of disorderly person offenses, petty disorderly person offenses, pretrial detention, and traffic violations, including Driving While Intoxicated. Additionally, Peter has also served as Board Attorney for several government entities in Ocean County, including the Jackson Township Rent Leveling Board, Township of Ocean Board of Adjustment, Little Egg Harbor Board of Adjustment, Little Egg Harbor Municipal Utilities Authority, and Toms River Township Board of Adjustment. During such time, he advised these municipalities as to various matters such as Municipal Land Use Law, Local Public Contracts Law, and the Open Public Records Act.
Peter is admitted to practice law in New Jersey. He received his Juris Doctor from the Seton Hall University School of Law in 2014, where he was the recipient of both the Presidential and Riccio Scholarships. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University, magna cum laude, and during that time was a member of both the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Golden Key International Honour Society.
